EL HAAL / STATE OF AFFAIRS
A COLLECTIVE LOOK AT PALESTINE & ISRAEL
> Exhibition curation with Philippe Deblauwe / exhibition scenography / visual identity design / graphic design of communication tools
In 2014, during the last major Israeli offensive on Gaza, we assembled the gazes of fifteen photographers. We wanted to understand “El haal,” the state of things from both sides of the wall erected through Palestine by Israel. These images, taken over a period of fifteen years and up until only yesterday, give testimony to the vicious cycle this conflict has become. They aspire to another future, hoping that, following the Arab proverb full of wisdom “Dawami al haal minial mohaal,” no situation can go on forever.
In collaboration with Picturetank Agency and the Ostkreuz Collective, we organized a week of exhibitions and screenings dedicated to Palestine and Israel during the Visa pour l’mage Festival in Perpignan, from September 1st to 7th, 2014.
